Trailer Reactions #4 - How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Creed II, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Glass, Spies in Disguise

Hello! Yes, I am alive. Yes, it's been nearly a month since I posted last. The truth is, I just haven't watched very many movies the past several weeks, and that's mostly due to my extremely busy schedule (and the fact that there hasn't really been anything special out in theaters for a while). Hopefully, I'll manage to find time to finally watch Wonder Woman that I've been meaning to get to since late August. And the Fantastic Beasts sequel comes out very soon, so you can definitely expect a review on that.

Anyway, today I have another installment to the Trailer Reactions series planned. In this post, I'll be giving you my run-down of five movie trailers: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Creed II, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Glass, and Spies in Disguise.

#1 - How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

I'm honestly shocked I haven't reviewed this trailer yet. That aside, How to Train Your Dragon franchise is easily Dreamworks' best, both critically and financially. Now, the franchise is sadly coming to a close with the third and final film: The Hidden World. The visuals are beautiful in this trailer. The story looks intriguing. I love this franchise so much, and I hope it goes off with a bang.

#2 - Creed II

Creed is probably one of the better sports drama movies I've seen. I liked it a lot more than Rocky. I'm glad they're producing a sequel, but it's not being directed by Ryan Coogler, the director of the first Creed and other hits such as Black Panther. Just a little bit of tea for you, I guess.

That's not to say the movie will be bad, though. From the looks of it, I think it will be pretty epic. I don't think I'll watch it in theaters, but maybe when it's available on Redbox. Who knows.

#3 - The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

A quick PSA: this is actually the teaser trailer for the film, not the official trailer, although it's long enough I'd consider it to be an official trailer.

Anyway, The LEGO Movie is undoubtedly one of the greatest animated films of all time. No one had ever thought a movie about toys could be so beautiful, both in animation and storytelling. Naturally, the sequel has high expectations. The original directors of the first movie stepped down I believe, and now Mike Mitchell holds that position. He's done a number of Dreamworks movies. Luckily, the original directors are still working on the movie - they're doing the screenplay.

With all of that technical stuff set aside, based on the trailer, I can say that I am absolutely HYPED for this film.

#4 - Glass

I know nothing about this film. NOTHING. After doing some research - and by some, I mean like two minutes of googling - I learned that Glass is actually the third installment in a film "series" that began with Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016). I first watched this trailer while waiting for Venom to start in the theater and I was instantly interested. If Glass does well, I might just go see it in theaters - after doing a bit more research.

#5 - Spies in Disguise

Blue Sky Studios isn't my favorite animation studio. They've had a few decent films, but the rest of them aren't too memorable. This movie looks... fine. It has the talent of Will Smith and Tom Holland, which is neat, but it's not something I'm really looking forward to. Will Smith's character's design makes me cringe.

So there you have it! Thanks for reading. Let me know what your opinion on each of these five films is in the comments.

''Venom'' Review

I had the opportunity to see Venom this past Friday. Before I continue with the post, allow me to discuss the reviews for this film, by critics and by the audience.

Venom currently has a 32% critic score and an 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Quite the difference, don't you think?

Venom also has a 7.1/10 on IMDb.

With those statistics in mind, it's pretty safe to say that this film has received very mixed reviews. I walked into Venom acknowledging these facts, but I did not let them sway or alter my personal opinion of the movie.

And that's what you're here for, right? My opinion?

Well, here it is!

LIKES

- Tom. Freaking. Hardy. Holy crap, Hardy did SO WELL in this movie. His performance was absolutely outstanding. What a talented man.
- The Eddie Brock/Venom relationship was executed in a way I didn't know I would end up enjoying. I want a sequel just so I can have more of that. Wow.
- There are a few jokes in this film - obviously, it's not a comedy, and I don't think it's trying to be - but the jokes it does have stick the landing.
- The effects were good and the soundtrack was decent.
-
- The CGI is alright. It's not amazing, but it's not terrible.

DISLIKES

- The villain was weak. Very weak.
- The beginning was a little slow, and then the rest of the movie was a bit too fast-paced. I wanted more banter between Eddie and Venom to build their chemistry.
- There was an F-bomb in the film. I hear this word all the time at school, so it didn't affect me too much, but considering the movie was given a PG-13 rating, I was slightly shocked.

Overall, the movie is an enjoyable ride. It's most definitely not perfect. It has its flaws. But if you go into the film with the right mindset, you'll come out with a smile.

''The Dark Knight" Review (SPOILERS)

I watched The Dark Knight over the weekend for the first time, just over a decade since it was first released in 2008. That's been too long of a wait for me; I've always wanted to see the film, but never really got around to it. Now I can say that I've seen it, and honestly, I had a blast.

Here's a list of my likes and dislikes.

LIKES

- Heath Ledger was - and I cannot stress this enough - PHENOMENAL. It's a shame he passed away. His talent truly shined through this movie. He is the best Joker without a doubt. He portrays the character so perfectly, I got chills every time he appeared on the screen.
- I LOVED Harvey Dent in this movie. His character arc is just absolutely mesmerizing. I wish there was more of him as Two-Face, but I also feel like too much of him would have caused the plot to drag a little.
- The complex, ever-lasting argument whether or not Batman is a menace or a savior to Gotham City really gets you thinking. I like it when movies leave room for the audience to ponder.
- The movie was dark, yes, but dark done well, unlike more modern DC films. You know who you are. *cough cough*
- The action scenes were fantastic.
- The soundtrack deserves an A+.

DISLIKES

- The Dark Knight is just ten minutes short of the length of Infinity War if you can believe it. Considering it didn't have ten years of buildup, the movie was a little too long for me.
- Maggie Gyllenhaal's acting as Rachel Dawes was... unbelievable. And not in a particularly good way. Unbelievable as in I wasn't convinced she actually wanted the role in the first place.
- Christian Bale's voice as Batman is kind of cringy at times.

To sum all of this up, The Dark Knight goes down as one of the best superhero films ever. I know that I'm Marvel-biased, but I truly did enjoy this movie.

Trailer Reactions #3 - Captain Marvel, Mary Poppins Returns, Venom, Wreck-It-Ralph 2, Smallfoot

It's been almost a month since I posted last, and that's mainly due to the extremely little amount of free time that I've had these past four weeks of my life. But I'm back, and that's what matters. Today, I'll be adding on another segment to the Trailer Reactions post series.

Today I will be reviewing the trailers for Captain Marvel, Mary Poppins Returns, Venom, Wreck-It-Ralph 2, and Smallfoot.

#1 - Captain Marvel

When the trailer was released Tuesday morning for Captain Marvel, I could barely wait to watch it, so when it was time to pick my friend up from her house to go to school, I arrived early so we could experience it together. Overall, I am quite pleased with how the next addition to the MCU looks so far. I am so excited to learn more about Carol Danvers in this presumably epic origin story set in the 90's. Although I have to admit, this trailer left me slightly underwhelmed compared to the other amazing MCU trailers. Hopefully, the next trailer will get the general audience hyped up.

Oh, and one more thing - Captain Mar-Vell (Shazam) and Captain Marvel are NOT the same thing.

#2 - Mary Poppins Returns

I watched Mary Poppins a lot growing up, and that's because it was one of my grandma's favorite films. My grandma loved the original movie, and I bet she'll love this remake. However, being the silly person I am, I couldn't take this trailer seriously because I kept thinking of the scene GOTG 2 with Yondu. Anyways, Emily Blunt looks great as Mary Poppins, and - oh my goodness - is that LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA!? Take my money.

#3 - Venom

I was worried this movie would turn out to be rated R, and while a lot of people probably would have enjoyed that, I wouldn't have because I wouldn't have been able to watch it. Recently, however, it was confirmed that Venom is rated PG-13, so I guess that means I'm seeing it in theaters! I really hope this movie does well. Venom is definitely one of my favorite Marvel villains - he's just so cool.

#4 - Wreck-It-Ralph 2

The first couple of trailers for this movie honestly had me a bit concerned. It seemed like Disney was trying too hard to shove heaps of pop culture references into our faces, wishing to get a laugh or two out of good ol' Gen Z. I mean, it worked; Twitter was blowing up after seeing the Disney princesses. But this particular trailer softened me. We get to see a few more glimpses of what the plot is actually about, but not too much that it gives the entire movie away. That gives me hope.

#5 - Smallfoot

Smallfoot is a cute idea, and I think it has the potential to be a cute kids movie. Forgettable, but cute. It gets released next week, so we'll see how things go. Personally, I doubt I'll watch this in theaters. Maybe on a long car ride where we have to rent a movie from Redbox.

Now it's your turn to give your opinions on these five movies and their trailers, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Thanks for reading!

''Isle of Dogs'' Review (SPOILERS)

Last night I finally had the opportunity to watch Isle of Dogs, a Wes Anderson-directed, stop-motion film about... well, dogs. I haven't seen Fantastic Mr. Fox, but that didn't stop me from giving this particular movie a chance.

The film is set in futuristic Japan where a sudden outbreak of ''canine flu'' causes the government to exile all dogs to a vast island full of trash. A 12-year-old boy named Atari (who also happens to be the mayor's ward) comes to the island alone after hijacking a plane in hopes of finding his long-lost pet, Spots. He receives help from a pack of dogs who have also been exiled, and his quest inspires other members of his community to expose a government conspiracy.

An extremely creative concept, I must say.

The animation is beautiful, from the gorgeous landscapes to the smallest of details such as the furs on the dogs blowing in the wind. Visually, the film is a pleasurable treat for the eye.

The characters are unique and likable. Their conversations might even give the viewer a laugh or two: I'll admit, I giggled here and there. Chief, voiced by Bryan Cranston, probably had the most character depth, being an outcast for much of his life in Megasaki City, unlike his fellow canine friends who all fully experienced the company of human masters.

Though the film has a charming personality, the one thing that bothered me the most was the plot. Yes, I did mention the concept of the plot was outstandingly imaginative, but the way it was executed left me - and I hate to say this - bored. The script definitely isn't perfect, and after the first half the movie kind of drags on a bit. I actually fell asleep as I was watching Isle of Dogs in my bed with the laptop. I tried to stay awake, but I couldn't. The plot carries on just a little too slowly for my liking, and the climax was slightly dull. Perhaps it's because I'm so used to the mainstream Hollywood norm of intense action and adventure movies, but I guess we'll never know.

Overall, I'd rate Isle of Dogs 7 out of 10 stars. It was creative, visually pleasing, and had a unique and imaginative storyline that most modern movies don't.

''Christopher Robin'' Review (SPOILERS)

When I saw the teaser trailer for the first time earlier this year for Christopher Robin, I instantly knew this movie would take my heart and put it through a paper shredder. While I didn't exactly grow up with Winnie the Pooh or any of the other characters from the Hundred Acre Wood, I did grow up with stuffed animals - and a whole lot of them, too. And the film stuck to its premise.

Here are a few quick thoughts on the film I would like to address...

- The CGI is very well done and the visual effects are beautiful. I mean, what else can you expect from a company like Disney? The detail on the stuffed animals from the tiniest bits of fur to the leather padding of Pooh's feet is mind-blowing.
- The simplicity of Christopher Robin, in my eyes, is essentially what makes the film what it is. It gets the message across clearly and sweetly. But even films with such simple themes as this have downsides, which is why I don't necessarily believe the movie is all that memorable.
- The movie was rather slow-paced, at least for most of it. I had no particular problem with this, but I know the younger kids in my theater did. I could feel them getting antsy around me. Personally, I liked how the film was a bit slower than what people are used to, as it gives us busybodies a chance to relax and just enjoy a lovely, innocent movie.
- The plot was quite predictable, but that's just another downside of having a ''simple'' movie. It put a smile on my face nonetheless.
- The movie was surprisingly funny! It landed a few jokes here and there that I genuinely laughed at and enjoyed.
- The only real issue I had with this film was the whole ''talking stuffed-animal'' thing. It makes sense for Christopher Robin to talk to his old friends, but for total strangers... well, that just kind of made me cringe.

Overall, Christopher Robin is a melancholic toast to our childhoods. While some of us are still engaging in ours, it serves as a reminder to never let go of those precious memories.

Trailer Reactions #2 - Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Teen Titans Go! To The Movies, Aquaman, Mission Impossible: Fallout, Christopher Robin

Welcome back for the second installment of the Trailer Reactions post series. I had a lot of fun reviewing the movie trailers in the previous post, so naturally, I couldn't wait any longer to type up the next one. With that being said, let's get started!

Today I will be reviewing the trailers for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Teen Titans Go! To The Movies, Aquaman, Mission Impossible: Fallout, and Christopher Robin.

#1 - Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Film Sypnosis:

Magizoologist Newt Scamander joins forces with young Albus Dumbledore to prevent the devious Gellert Grindelwald from raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings.

Ahh, I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am about this film! I loved Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, so you bet your bottom dollar I'm hyped. I cannot wait to see Grindelwald in action, as well as the young version of the famous Albus Dumbledore.

#2 - Teen Titans Go! To The Movies

Film Sypnosis:

A villain's maniacal plan for world domination sidetracks five teenage superheroes who dream of Hollywood stardom.

I'll be honest here - when I first learned that there would be a full-fledged CINEMATIC MOVIE about the popular cartoon Teen Titans GO!, I just about puked. For the longest time, I expected this film to be the ''Emoji Movie of 2018''. Shockingly enough, the movie sits with an astounding 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of this post. The official score is bound to change within the next couple of days, but the fact that the majority of the early reviews are positive just blows my mind. I heard rumors that if this movie does well, Cartoon Network might bring back the original Teen Titans cartoon for another season... so I'm actually hoping it does fine at the box office. Maybe I'll end up watching it once it's available on Redbox someday. Who knows!

#3 - Aquaman

Film Sypnosis:

Aquaman finds himself caught between a surface world that ravages the sea and the underwater Atlanteans who are ready to revolt.

The DCEU has this reputation for being... edgy. While the graphics are shown to be rather dark-toned like most of the DCEU films in the Aquaman trailer and aren't exactly aesthetically pleasing to my eyes personally, the movie itself actually might be rather okay. Since the DCEU has basically hit rock bottom, this film desperately needs to perform well at the box office and in reviews. I'm hoping for the best! (P.S. I still need to see Wonder Woman... perhaps I'll watch that this weekend.)

#4 - Mission Impossible: Fallout

Film Sypnosis:

Ethan Hunt and the IMF team join forces with CIA assassin August Walker to prevent a disaster of epic proportions. Arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles plan to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack on the Vatican, Jerusalem and Mecca, Saudi Arabia. When the weapons go missing, Ethan and his crew find themselves in a desperate race against time to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.

I have yet to see a single Mission Impossible movie, so I honestly had no idea what the heck was going on in the trailer, but from what I did see, the movie looks like an action-packed adventure. Also, critics are giving the movie positive reviews, so that's a plus.

#5 - Christopher Robin

Film Sypnosis:

Winnie-the-Pooh and friends reunite with old pal Christopher Robin -- now an adult.

I am so excited for this movie! When the teaser trailer first came out a while back, I actually shed a tear or two when Pooh Bear popped up. I have a strong emotional connection to stuffed animals, so seeing all these beloved characters as old, tattered, and loved plush toys just warmed my heart up. I'll definitely be seeing this in theaters.

Which movie trailers did you like the best in this post? Comment your thoughts down below, and have a lovely day!

Trailer Reactions #1 - Bohemian Rhapsody, The Grinch, The Nun, Dumbo, Bumblebee

Hello! Today marks the first official ''Trailer Reactions'' post on this blog. Trailer Reactions is a new post series I'll be doing where I simply give my thoughts on trailers for upcoming movies (if it wasn't already obvious). In each post, I will review five trailers for five movies to be released in the future.

In this first installment of the series, I will be reacting to Bohemian Rhapsody, The Grinch, The Nun, Dumbo, and Bumblebee. Let's get started!

#1 - Bohemian Rhapsody

Film Sypnosis:

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

Personally, I think this film has the potential to be a hit. The characters are cast well: Rami Malek seems to pull off a pretty decent Freddie Mercury. If you're a fan of Queen, I would recommend seeing this in theaters.

#2 - The Grinch

Film Sypnosis:

The Grinch hatches a scheme to ruin Christmas when the residents of Whoville plan their annual holiday celebration.

Agh... how many Grinch remakes can there be? As you can tell, I'm not particularly excited for this movie. Illumination produces ''mediocre'' movies, in my opinion (and that's a story to be told later), and this looks like no exception. The animation is fine, the voice acting is fine... the whole movie just seems fine. Just fine. Nothing special. The only redeeming quality I like is Benedict Cumberbatch voicing the Grinch. The kids might enjoy this film, but they most likely won't remember it, and neither will I. I don't plan on seeing this in theaters.

#3 - The Nun

Film Sypnosis:

When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together, they uncover the order's unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun.

I don't really watch horror films, but this movie is giving me vibes that it might actually be pretty good. Good as in plot, conflict, and, well, scariness - all the key elements of a good horror movie. I doubt I'll ever watch this movie, but if it does well, then props to the directors for giving The Conjuring series a great addition.

#4 -  Dumbo

Film Sypnosis:

The owner of a struggling circus enlists a man and his two children to care for a newborn elephant that can fly.

While this trailer is only a teaser, the movie seems to me like it's just another Disney live-action remake. No one asked for a live-action remake of the classic Dumbo. And with Tim Burton directing it, a lot of people are even more skeptical than I am about the film, considering what he did with the two Alice in Wonderland live-action remakes. I'm legitimately not sure how to feel about things here. At least the graphics are beautiful, as all Disney movies are.

#5 - Bumblebee

Film Sypnosis:

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee the Autobot seeks refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie, on the brink of turning 18 years old and trying to find her place in the world, soon discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns that this is no ordinary yellow Volkswagen.

''Oh boy... another Transformers film?" That's what I said to myself when I noticed a teaser trailer was out for a movie about one of the Transformers characters. Then I actually watched the trailer and my view completely changed. Apparently, this film is not directed by Michael Bay, the man who directed the previous five Transformers movies, all of which were pretty much flops. So, with that in mind, hopefully, the new dude, Travis Knight, can make things work with this movie. If so, I might just watch it once it's available at Redbox.

That concludes the first volume of Trailer Reactions. Let me know what you think of the series so far in the comments.

"Ant-Man and the Wasp'' Review (SPOILERS)

I saw Ant-Man and the Wasp several days ago with a friend and I have to say, I was very pleased! The movie was just as good, if not slightly better than the first Ant-Man. It was certainly nice to get a break from the intensity and high stakes of Avengers: Infinity War in the MCU.

Here are some thoughts of mine I had while watching Ant-Man and the Wasp:

LIKES

- The action scenes were some of the best in the entire MCU.
- The movie explored Hope Van Dyne and Scott Lang's characters even more fully, as expected.
- The movie also further explored the quantum realm, and that was very thought-provoking.
- Cassie is absolutely adorable.
- Luis is straight up hilarious - like, can we petition for him to recite the entire history of the MCU in his unique storytelling way? That would be a dream come true.
- The chemistry between all of the characters in the film is on-point and gives for a good laugh.
- Ghost was an interesting villain.
- The visual effects were fantastic, especially in the quantum realm scenes.
- The mid-credits scene was one of the MCU's best.

DISLIKES

- I felt like Ghost needed a bit more build-up to truly make her a compelling villain, and that was one of the film's main weak spots.
- The FBI agent dude was really annoying, but I suppose that's what Marvel had to do to set up some of the jokes he was involved in.
- Sonny Burch was sort of a useless character.

Overall, Ant-Man and the Wasp is a fun summer flick that everyone will enjoy. Though on the smaller scale of the MCU (pun intended) risk-wise, the movie still has a big heart. Now to continue speculation on that shocking mid-credits scene...

Things to Know Before Seeing ''Ant-Man and the Wasp''

Ant-Man and the Wasp is just about a week away from public release and I could not be more excited. For a while, Ant-Man was my favorite movie (that was before I had seen a lot of movies - Marvel movies, for that matter), and still is one of my favorite movies to date, so naturally, the sequel has me stoked.

Upon request, here are a few key points you should know before watching Ant-Man and the Wasp.

- Ant-Man is definitely on the more comical and lighthearted side of the MCU, and I expect the sequel to be just the same, so don't walk into the theater with a dark, brooding, Captain America: The Winter Soldier mindset.

- I would recommend seeing the first Ant-Man before watching Ant-Man and the Wasp. You don't necessarily have to, but it sure helps a bunch. I also suggest taking a look at Captain America: Civil War, too, since this movie occurs right after Civil War takes place.

- A lot of early reviews from critics say that Ant-Man and the Wasp is even better than Ant-Man, so if you liked Ant-Man, you'll probably laugh a whole lot more than you did while watching this film.

- There are two end credits scenes in Ant-Man and the Wasp, and I've heard that the first one is the more important of the two.

- If you have yet to see Avengers: Infinity War, don't worry - you can still watch Ant-Man and the Wasp.

- The film is rated PG-13 and has a runtime of 1 hour 58 minutes.

All in all - go see the movie. Once it comes out, that is.

"Incredibles 2" Review (SPOILERS)

I just got back from watching Incredibles 2, and what can I say? Pixar has worked its imaginative magic once again. It's a sequel worth waiting for, to say the least.

Per usual, it's now time for the likes/dislikes and pros/cons of the movie. These are all solely based on my opinion and I am entitled to it, but feel free to share yours in the comments. Keep in mind that there will be spoilers - you've been warned!

LIKES

- The villain is much more terrifying in this film than its predecessor.
- I loved how the villain used screens to enslave (hence the name ''Screenslaver") control people since our world is so digitally reliant. Very clever.
- The action scenes were awesome.
- I don't have a problem with strobe lights, so the strobe light scene was super epic and mesmerizing.
- Bao, the short film that plays before Incredibles 2, was phenomenal and tearjerking. Classic Pixar.
- The kids (Violet, Dash, and Jack Jack) are hilarious. The Parr family has such good chemistry.

DISLIKES

- There were a few cases of mild cussing which I felt were completely unnecessary.

That's all of the specifics that come to mind. In general, Incredibles 2 was fantastic and I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first one. It was a real treat to see these beloved characters back on the big screen.

"Solo: A Star Wars Story'' Review (SPOILERS)

I'll admit, I walked into Solo: A Star Wars Story with pretty low expectations. After the disaster known as The Last Jedi, I didn't have high hopes for this film. There was also the whole ''Alden Ehrenreich Needed an Acting Coach'' fiasco to top off my concerns.

However, Solo was not nearly as terrible as I thought it would be, yet still slightly underwhelming. By no means is it a perfect movie - or even a memorable one at that - but it wasn't as much of a menace as the majority of Star Wars fans on Rotten Tomatoes said it was, even with all of the hardships it faced, such as the firing of the original director mid-production.

So, here's a few things I liked about Solo, and a few things I didn't like:

LIKES

- How Han and Chewie met
- Paul Bettany's performance
- Darth Maul's cameo
- Alden actually did a decent job on portraying Han
- Donald Glover's performance
- Rescuing the enslaved Wookies
- The Beckett Twist

DISLIKES

- L3
- L3 and Lando's ''relationship"
- The film didn't explore the reason behind Han's cynical attitude or Imperial training
- The action scenes were kind of boring and bland
- How Han got his last name
- Qi'ra's unexplored motives
- Lack of depth for the majority of the characters and not giving the audience a compelling reason to care about them

There's also one more thing I'd like to discuss before I conclude this post, and that is the Solo box office performance. Compared to other Star Wars films, Solo has so far failed miserably. Earning only about $275 million worldwide on its second weekend, a lot of people have been wondering what went wrong, and I believe I have three main reasons to explain this shocking event:

1) TLJ left a lot of Star Wars fans bitter and angry
2) The movie was released too early after TLJ and didn't have enough time to build up hype
3) It had to compete with other big movies such as Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 during the month of May

That's all I have to say about Solo, and if you haven't seen the movie yet - don't worry, you won't be missing out on much, but go see it in theaters anyways because popcorn.

Avengers: Infinity War - Likes/Dislikes, Pros/Cons (SPOILERS)

Avengers: Infinity War left me MIND. BLOWN. It is truly a phenomenal masterpiece and I could not be more excited about the upcoming MCU films, such as Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, and Avengers 4. Here's a list of things I loved about Infinity War, and things I didn't particularly enjoy (mainly for emotional reasons). Caution: there will be spoilers for the movie in this post, so read at your own risk!

POSITIVE THOUGHTS:

- Mantis is adorable.
- Teenage Groot deserves a thumbs-up for sacrificing himself to forge Stormbreaker. Don't worry, he only gives up his arm, and quickly grows back a new one.
- Thanos is a very interesting villain with an interesting motive.
- Scarlet Witch's powers come full circle and it is beautiful to watch.
- Thor calls Rocket a rabbit.
- Bruce Banner - not the Hulk, but Bruce Banner - is so fun.
- Stan Lee's cameo was great as always.
- "BOOM."
- Steve's reply to ''I am Groot."
- Rocket asks for Bucky's arm.
- Stormbreaker is awesome.
- That one scene with Scarlet Witch, Okoye, and Black Widow all fighting Proxima Midnight.
- The various character interactions are all fantastic and hilarious.
- That Red Skull cameo. After years of theorizing, we finally know the location of the soul stone, and it's in the hands of the Captain America: The First Avenger villain.
- That Captain Marvel tease in the post-credits scene. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE CAPTAIN MARVEL SOLO MOVIE.

NEGATIVE THOUGHTS:

- I would have liked to see more of Steve Rogers/Nomad. I felt like the poor guy got barely any screentime.
- Loki's sacrifice. He makes his exit quite early on in the film.
- Thanos killing Gamora to acquire the soul stone, and the fact that he was (painfully) shedding tears over it.
- The ending. I sobbed through that entire scene.
- There are multiple story lines to follow in this movie, so it can be a little overwhelming to keep up with them all, but the Russos perform and execute the task excellently. I guess this particular bulletin should be in the middle of negative and positive.
- The Infinity Gauntlet could have been removed from Thanos if it weren't for Star-Lord.
- Voldemort has a son, apparently, and his name is Ebony Maw.
- Peter Parker hugging Tony Stark broke my heart.
- Except for the beginning scene, Bruce Banner never fully transformed into the Hulk.
- Thor didn't go for the head.
- ''Thanos will return.''
- The fact that there was little to no audio playing during the iconic ''Marvel logo'' scene gave me the chills. I suppose it was a warning sign that Kevin Feige was not messing around with this one.

Why Star Wars Fans Hate ''The Last Jedi''

It's no secret that The Last Jedi, aka ''TLJ'', was a total hit. It grossed over 3.1 billion dollars worldwide and acquired praise from critics, yet the movie received mixed reviews from fans. The current score for TLJ on Rotten Tomatoes from critics is 91%, while the audience score is a devastating 47%.

So, why is there such a dramatic difference between the two scores? What did TLJ do to gain all of this backlash from the fans?

Here are some reasons why I believe The Last Jedi caused so much controversy:

1. Snoke

In The Force Awakens, Snoke was illustrated as the galaxy's next ''big bad'', but how much did really know about the character? That's right - very little. Because we knew so little about him in TFA, we were expecting to learn more about who Snoke is and his backstory in TLJ; sadly, director Rian Johnson made the decision to kill off Snoke in TLJ before we could learn anything about him. Snoke's death was quite jarring to the majority of the audience.

2. Phasma

Phasma was another villain in TFA that fans hoped to see more of in TLJ. Unfortunately, like Snoke, Phasma was given an underwhelming death and barely any screen time at all. With Phasma being a relatively popular character in TFA, it makes sense why fans would be upset.

3. The Force's Strange New Powers

Apparently, you can float through space like Mary Poppins with the Force. Especially if you're Leia Organa.

4. Rey is a Jedi Master with NO Training

How can Rey wield the Force and handle a lightsaber so amazingly without any real Jedi training? Before TLJ was released, some may have speculated that it had to do with her family tree, which leads me to my next reason...

5. Rey's Parents

For years, fans theorized over who Rey's parents were. Perhaps she was from Skywalker lineage, or maybe the offspring of Han and Leia, making Rey a sister to Kylo Ren. However, according to Kylo Ren, Rey's parents were nobodies. They were desert junkies who sold off Rey for drinking money when she was a child. But, since Kylo Ren was the one to deliver the ''big reveal'', he could be lying.

6. Canto Bight

The whole casino subplot with Finn and Rose is a waste of time. The reason the two go to Canto Bight in the first place is to meet the Codebreaker, who ends up betraying them, but somehow not needing him in the end.

7.  Rose Tico

I may be exaggerating a bit here, but I'm going to speak what's on my mind nonetheless: I DESPISE Rose Tico. Her character is just... ANNOYING. Of course, she's no Jar-Jar Binks, but the forced chemistry between her and Finn made me want to puke, and I'm sure a large number of Star Wars fans can agree with me.

8. Luke's Character

TFA ended with Rey and Luke on the island where Luke went into hiding for so many years, with Rey holding Luke's lightsaber, ushering him to take it from her. In TLJ, that specific scene picks up with Luke grabbing the lightsaber and chucking it over his shoulder. While this did get a few laughs from the audience in the theater I was in, I sat there dumbfounded.

TLJ turned Luke Skywalker from a brave, courageous man into a grouchy, old chicken. Fans did not take this particular character ''development'' lightly. At least we get to see Luke drink milk from an alien beast... right? Yeah, that part was pretty disgusting.

9. That One Purple Haired Lady

If there's any character in TLJ I hated the most next to Rose Tico, it would be that one purple haired lady. I don't even want to bother looking up her name because I disliked her so much. She was poorly written, and as a result of that, her character is extremely obnoxious.

10. It Was Boring

I found myself a bit bored at times during TLJ while watching it in the theater. The entire plot was based on the Resistance getting away from the First Order, by just BARELY staying out of target for the majority of the film. Canto Bight was lame, Luke and Rey's ''training'' was lame, etc.

11. Dumb Jokes

The comedy in the movie didn't feel like true Star Wars comedy to most fans. The jokes were rather flat.

12. Reylo

Kylo seems to have feelings for Rey. He communicates with her by using the Force and asks her to join his side in ruling the galaxy. Obviously, Rey denies his offer, but that doesn't stop people from shipping the two. Personally, I don't have a problem with Kylo and Rey being a ''thing'', and I think it would make for an interesting story, but some fans' opinions on the matter are different than mine, so I decided to put this reason up here anyway.

Now that you know why fans aren't too happy with TLJ, let's look at some reasons why some fans (and many critics) enjoyed TLJ:

1. Diversity

Yes, critics love a diverse cast. In fact - and I've heard this from somewhere else, so it may or may not be entirely true - Rotten Tomatoes awards points to movies with a variety of actors with different races.

2. Kylo Ren

My favorite character in TFA and TLJ is without a doubt Kylo Ren, except for that one scene with his high-waisted pants (which actually turned out to be a large bandage) and wide, shirtless body. I enjoyed his character development in TLJ a lot. Adam Driver did well.

3. Visuals

There's no denying that the visuals in TLJ were absolutely breathtaking. The film was certainly a sweet treat to the eye.

4. Score

JJ Abrams did a fantastic job on the soundtrack for TLJ. The score is truly remarkable.

So there you have it. In a nutshell, Star Wars fans dislike TLJ because it left them feeling underwhelmed, disappointed, and upset. I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan out there - heck, I wouldn't really call myself a true fan - but I walked out of the theater feeling the emotions that real Star Wars fans felt after watching TLJ.
